"MLK's Dream Will Never Happen"

The nation recently commemorated the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King's famed "I Have A Dream" speech. That historical event and speech seemed to have ushered in a new era of civil and equal rights unrealized by blacks and minorities prior to Dr. King's bold declaration on that August 28th day. Here we are 50 years later and many propound that Dr. King's dream is still unrealized in its fullness. I do not want to debate whether it is or not, but what I do want to say as a defender of biblical truth, is that Dr. King's dream will never come to fruition until another man's dream is realized in the hearts and minds of all ethnicity and cultures alike. Who in the world can have a dream bigger and more important than the distinguished, honorable, and celebrated Dr. King? Well. over 4000 years ago, Jacob, a Jewish patriarch and grandson of Abraham, had a dream unparalleled by any dream before or after it. In Genesis 28:10-17, Jacob had a dream depicting a ladder that reach from earth to heaven with angels ascending and descending upon it, and the Lord standing at the top of it. The dream alone is amazing, however, there is a bigger message conveyed in this epic scene. Approximately, 2000 years later, Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God and Savior of humanity, correlates Jacob's dream to Himself in John 1:51 where Christ uses the same imagery regarding angels ascending and descending on Himself, Israel and the world's long awaited Messiah.
John 1:51-“I tell all of you the solemn truth—you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.
Jacob's dream was a look forward to He Who would become the bridge from earth to heaven. Without Christ, humanity cannot get to heaven! The sin of bigotry, racism, hate, and inequality subsist because of the depraved nature of every human being. Without Christ, humanity cannot love God or their neighbors the way we should! Without Christ, Dr. King's dream of racial harmony and equality will not be fully realized until humanity recognize the One Jacob dreamed about and the One born of a virgin, live three and half years healing, delivering, and preaching the arrival of God's kingdom, and the One Who sacrificed His life by death on a Roman cross. Until people of every race and culture in every nation accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ, any other sub-par dream like Dr. King's, though it is an important one, will never come into full fruition until our sin nature is dealt with by Christ's finished work on the cross by His death and the eventual resurrection that forever seals the salvation and will of people to love God and others as our Lord desires.
As for me, and most Americans I'm sure,we honor the work and legacy of Dr. King. But there is One  who I honor and recognize more than any other and that is my Lord, my Savior, my Master, Jesus the Christ, Son of the most high God. So until Jacob's dream is realized in the hearts of people, Dr. King's dream will never be fully realized. How about a march on Washington to proclaim that? SHALOM, from The Elder!!!
